The main entrance of Geelong Arts Centre presented a unique challenge of fabricating a gold mirror front door canopy reflecting the shape of a calliope. We recreated this shape using gold mirror-finished stainless steel panels, cut and welded to align precisely with the design intent.
Other aspects of the project included a weatherproof insulated wall for the impressive rainscreen GRC curtain effect front facade. Our solid and perforated aluminium panels, powder-coated in colours such as “Man Paink”, “Blue Fin”, and “Caper”, were installed on Custom Clad fabricated Truecore lightweight steel frames. Additional scope included interlocking Colorbond cladding panels, plant room screens, and CFC wall cladding, completing the cladding for Geelong Arts Centre.
Using Mondoclad, we printed the artwork on panels, then clear coated them for quality and durability before on-site installation. For the adjacent wall, we used 4mm aluminium cassette panels, coated in Quantum FX Zaffir and clear coated to create a metallic blue sparkle facade.
