Sunshine Hospital is a public hospital on Furlong Road in St Albans, Melbourne. Operated by Western Health, it is one of three major hospitals in Melbourne's western suburbs, with about 600 beds. The hospital includes an emergency department, intensive care unit, cardiac care unit, women's and children's facilities, mental health wards, aged care, and rehabilitation facilities.
The first phase of Sunshine Hospital cladding included 1,300sqm of recladding, followed by an additional 2,000sqm in the second phase.
An on-site audit identified discrepancies, leading to the creation of replacement lightweight frame components. Collaborating closely with a powder-coating supplier ensured a seamless aesthetic match despite slight colour changes.
Sunshine Hospital cladding was completed by strategically shutting down critical areas in advance. Rigorous testing uncovered water penetration issues, which were promptly rectified to ensure the project’s overall success.
